The course is part of the core courses in the curriculum which provides knowledge in one of the two chosen languages, in this case Turkish.
1. Knowledge and comprehension
- To understand the basic rules of Turkish morphology and morhonology
- To understand short and simple Turkish texts
- Knowledge of the historic-linguistic context of Turkic languages


2. Capacity of application
- To apply the grammatical rules by producing short oral and written sentences
- Translation of the texts into Italian
- Capacity to apply the historic-linguistic knowledge in a written paper
Being a beginners' course no knowledge of Turkish is required.
- Overview of Turkic languages and contextualization of Turkey Turkish
- Teaching Turkish grammar until level A2. The application of the rules takes place in the language exercises with the native Turkish language teacher.
Students unable to attend are requested to contact the instructor in order to be provided with the study program. For these students a presentation of a paper on a topic agreed with the instructor will be requested.

The student will attend a partial exam (without dictionary) in the january exams' session which consists of the assessment of grammar of lexicon. The final exam conists of a) a conversation with the language teacher, b) a written exam (with dictionary), which consists of a short translation of a literary text from Turkish.
Lecture, supported by literary texts provided by the instructor.

THE COURSE INCLUDES ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE EXERCISE CLASSES PROVIDED BY THE LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR DR. ÖZKAN GÜRSES. IT IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED THAT STUDENTS ATTEND THESE CLASSES IN ORDER TO OBTAIN AN APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF LANGUAGE COMPETENCE.
