This course is one of the basic courses common to the degree in Economics, and is aimed at providing students an overview on the firm and the key issues related to its management. After an introduction on the methodological foundations and the context of modern firms, the course focuses on the analysis of the environment in which the firm operates, on the analysis of the firm’s competitive advantages, on growth strategies and on the development of marketing strategies.
After completing the course, students will understand which are the main business functions, which are the main characteristics of a firm’s environment, and what strategies the firm can implement.

Learning assessment:
final written exam based on the textbook and the slides.

The exam includes 10 multiple-choice questions (each correct answer equals 2 points and each wrong answer equals -0.5) and two 6-point open-ended questions. This also allows you to aspire for Lode.
Lectures, discussion of case studies, guest lectures from executives and interactive quizzes that will give opportunities to accumulate marks for the final exam.
