The course is placed within the disciplines of social service and aims to deepen the themes and methodologies related to the areas of social service evaluation,
social planning and social programming. These themes are specific to the design dimension of the interventions aimed at individuals, families and reference communities. The first part of the course will deal with the definitions of assessment, the different approaches and theoretical models and then analyze specifically the assessment of social service with reference to practical situations differentiated by field. It will then address the characteristics of projects in the social sphere, the connections between theoretical models and consequent design choices. There will also be an evaluation of projects aimed at local communities. The final part of the course will deal with programming as a territorial and Community dimension of social intervention in the design of services and in the definition of social policies.
Students at the end of the course will learn about the main theoretical approaches to assessment, design and social programming. They will be able to build a social service evaluation design and monitor it until the end of the evaluation process. They should be able to refer to the main orientations and theoretical models in the field of social services planning and social policies. They will acquire transversal knowledge that foster the ability to link theoretical knowledge and operational practices, having as a reference the case studies presented in class and the experience of the internship that will be critically reviewed.
