The general objectives of the exercises are:
to learn and to consolidate, through exercises and practices, the techniques of interpretation from Italian spoken language to Italian Sign Language (Lis), both in consecutive and simultaneous mode.
Learning how to interpret, from Lis to the Italian spoken language, different texts of various kinds in a fluid, effective and usable way, knowing how to recognize in the incoming language, all the specific characteristics, the cultural and expressive variables and making a correct linguistic and cultural transition between the two languages.
Learning how to implement, during the interpretation in spoken Italian, all the communicative skills, verbal and non-verbal, to ensure semantic equivalence in the transition from a visual gestural language to an acoustic vocal language.
Learning how to manage any obstacles or problems that have arisen during interpretation.
Knowing how to manage emotional or stressful situations.
Evaluate, using the self-analysis method, the own interpretative performance.
The course is intended for students with advanced knowledge of Italian language and Italian Sign Language and who must have attended at least three years of LIS.
Preparation for interpretation:
-Short and long-term memory techniques.
-Ability to double duty
-Cloze exercises.
- Whispered interpretation (or chuchotage)
-The lag time.
-Use of the voice in a public context

Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting exercises on texts of different types and registers.

Analysis and self-analysis of interpretation.

Activities in pair and team: how to support the colleague, how to ask for support, how to give to colleagues (or receive) positive feedbacks.

The exam includes the analysis and oral discussion of a portfolio of interpretations performed by the student both from Italian spoken language to Italian sign Language (LIS) and from LIS to Italian spoken language.
Watching various types of differents signing style, comprehension, discussion on the socio-cultural and linguistic aspects of the incoming text, search for semantic equivalence in the outgoing text with the analysis of the corresponding linguistic and socio-cultural aspects.
