The course supplies the basic statistical tools to know the nature and the structure of touristic demand with special attention to the seasonal component.
The theoretical approach will be accompanied with applied activities in order to learn the use of adequate statistical tools (sotware R or GRETL).
1. Knowledge and understanding
1.1 Ability to use statistical tools for the analysis of economic phenomena;
1.2 Ability to develop an overview of quantitative issues relevant to understanding economic dynamics.

2. Applying knowledge and understanding
2.1 Ability to interpret and represent the main economic phenomena related to market and tourism businesses;
2.2 Ability to select, estimate and verify multiple regression models.

3. Making judgements:
3.1 Ability to propose and comment different methods of forecasting tourist flows;
3.2 Ability to discuss the results obtained from the study of business cases.

The final exam, consists of a written test and an oral/practical test. The exam aims to verify that the student has acquired the basic concepts presented during the lessons and can integrate this knowledge with the ability to solve operational problems.
The written test is a quiz with 4 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-ended questions, prepared on the e-learning platform (Moodle). The multiple-choice questions have a maximum score of 1 point each, while the open-ended questions have a maximum score of 3 points each.
Obtaining a minimum score of 5 on the written test is necessary to take the oral test.
The oral/practical test of about 20 minutes can include exercises and an interview with the teacher. The maximum score obtainable from this test is 20.
The final grade will be obtained from the sum of the scores obtained in the two tests.
Lectures, practice sessions, and tutorials.
During the lesson period, the student is encouraged to complete some exercises and self-assessment tests available on the e-learning platform.
This activity is not mandatory to access the exam.
