The course begins from the basics of law, and then tackles the various problems concerning the environment, intended both as a natural asset and as assets created or modified by man: the discipline of environmental heritage (landscape, water, cultural heritage, etc.) characterized by rules that favour sustainability, the discipline of environmental-related contracts and environmental damage, directed not only to compensation but also and especially to prevention.
1. Knowledge and understandings
Understand the multilevel legal system which governs the today relationships.
Knowledge of the private legal institutions object of the program of the course.

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understandings
Ability to set human relationship with juridical relevance, both personal and economic, in the legal frame.
Ability to find the legal provisions applicable to a certain situation.

3. Judgment
Being able to interpret legal provisions.
Being able to identify, distinguish, relate different principles and legal provisions belonging to different sources of the multilevel system.
Facing a hypothetical conflict o private relationship, finding the provisions or the institutions to solve or manage the situation.
None prerequisite is required
1- Basic principles - Italian Constitution and the environment: notion and value of the environment; the environment and its boundaries; urban law, landscape and public health; the sources of the environmental law.
2 - Legal subjects - the international community; the European Community; the a between Stato, Regioni and Enti Locali.
3 - Instruments - the ways to participate in the environmental protection: the environmental organizations; the "VIA"; the environmental damage.
4 - Environment between State and free market; Environment and Territory; sectoral disciplines.
Galgano, manuale di Diritto Privato, (ultima edizione), limitatamente ai capitoli: capitolo 1, capitolo 2, capitolo 3 (del terzo capitolo da fare solo il paragrafo 3.3), capitolo 4, capitolo 5, capitolo 7, capitolo 8 e capitolo 19.

Written and oral examination
The written exam consists in 15 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer is worth 2 points. No answer is considered mistake. Succeeding in the written exam is mandatory to be admitted to the oral exam
The Course is mainly structured in several frontal lessons. In addition, some extra-lessons will be structured in a seminar form focusing on topics of particular interest and complexity.
