Module (related/integrative) aimed to analyze the interaction between journalism and literature in the twentieth century. Starting from a technical framework of the general lines of journalism, we will consider the experiences of writing that are placed between information and literary writing, focusing above all on the interaction between the two dimensions in the writers-journalists of the Italian twentieth century. The frequent combination of journalistic activity and literary activity in Italian writers of the twentieth century will also make it possible to verify how the different writing techniques, while practiced in distinct contexts, influence each other, helping to characterize the textual outcome. In these respects the course is directly connected to the literary (especially narrative) trend of the Italian twentieth century.
The expected learning results refer to the deepening of the basic techniques of journalistic writing, to the consideration of the development of journalism itself in the Italian twentieth century (with references also to international contexts) and the analysis of the mechanisms that characterize journalistic writing.
Knowledge of the basic structure and functioning of the literary text and knowledge of the general frameworks (periodizations and literary currents) of the Italian literature of the twentieth century; to get to know some aspects of the relationship between journalism and literature, it is useful (but not necessary) to have attended Letteratura italiana contemporanea A-L (FT0120) in which attention is also dedicated to travel reportage and to the writing experience of writers-journalists. The prerequisites indicated here are part of the natural path of the three-year degree in Lettere - Scienze del testo letterario e della comunicazione.

Non-attending students are required to deepen the relationship between journalistic writing and literary writing by a writer-journalist of the twentieth century or of the 2000s.
The exam will consist of some questions which will stimulate an active conversation about the topics covered in class and included in the program. The questions will aim in particular to verify the mastery of content.

There are several exam methods available (including the possibility of carrying out a written analysis of the relationship between journalistic and literary writing by a writer-journalist of the twentieth century or of the 2000s):
- Exam for non-attending students: as scheduled, Bertoni's text, the reading of the texts by Piovene and Terzani and the deepening of the relationship between journalistic writing and literary writing by a writer-journalist of the twentieth century or of the 2000s.
- Exam for attending students: topics covered in class, Bertoni's text, Piovene and Terzani's texts.
- Exam with essay without exposition in the classroom: essay (analysis of the relationship between journalistic writing and literary writing by a writer-journalist of the twentieth century or of the 2000s) to be delivered about ten days before the exam and to be presented in summary during the exam; a couple of further questions on Bertoni's text.
- Exam with essay exposed in the classroom: classroom exposition (30 to 45 minutes); delivery of the essay in a definitive form (analysis of the relationship between journalistic writing and literary writing by a writer-journalist of the twentieth century or of the 2000s) about ten days before the exam; during the exam a short conversation in relation to the essay itself.
Lectures and seminars. The second half of the module, structured mostly as a seminar, will include presentations by students who attend the course. The seminar work option allows an active application in the textual analysis, thus providing a more articulated, complete and formative experience.
The MOODLE platform is also used to support teaching, in which additional materials are inserted (specific in-depth materials linked to topics covered in class) and in which it is possible to interact: an online reference point for communications and notices.

The module is scheduled for the second semester and is divided into two parts: a first part in the first half of the semester and a second part in the second half of the semester.
