didactic activity of the ARCHAEOLOGICAL LABORATORY SP. - is part of the training and guidance internships for the archaeological orientation of the Master’s degree in Ancient Civilisations: Literature, History and Archaeology.
The course aims to provide the basilar methods to study plant remains (charcoal woods, seeds, fruits, etc.) from archaeological excavations, in order to understand the environment and agricultural practices in the past.
1. Knowledge and comprehension
- knowing main methodologies of collection and documentation of archaeobotanical remains.
- knowing terminology of systematic botany.
- Taxonomic identification of wood and of carpological remains; statistical methodologies to understand relationshio man-environment.
2. Ability to apply knowledges and understanding.
- to be able to apply methodology and knowledge on archaeobotanical samples.
No prior knowledge is required.

The learning assessment consists of a practical test designed to ascertain the level of understanding of the topics covered in the lecture.
The course will be divided into Theoretical lessons with projections of Power Point presentations and in a practical part.
