The course belongs to the basic teaching activities of the Bachelor's Degree Programmes in Philosophy, placing itself within the teachings of the historical-philosophical area. The educational objective of the course is to provide knowledge related to the history of philosophy. Particular attention will be paid to the concept of metaphysics as a privileged thread for the investigation of the history of philosophy. At the end of the course are expected students' understanding and knowledge about authors and problems of the history of metaphysics, as well as the ability to apply such knowledge in order to compare different philosophical theories, catching similarities and differences, and in order to be able to argue in critical way about the expounded historical-philosophical problems.
At the end of the course students should
1) demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the most important themes of the course of lections;
2) have the ability to analyze in argumentative way the materials of the book of examination;
3) be able to communicate and discuss ideas and problems of the course of lections.
Knowledge of the history of western philosophy (from its origins to Hegel).
Genesis and Structure of the theory of recognition.
1: From the crisis of Hegel's system to the linguistic turn in the XX century.
2: Genesis of recognition theory: from Habermas to Honneth.
3: Recognition in Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit.
4: Structure of recognition theory.

The evaluation will be based on a oral exam. Students must demonstrate:
1) knowledge of the recognition theory from Hegel to the contemporary revival (Apel, Habermas, Honneth);
2) general knowledge of the themes of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit;
3) the ability to interpret and expound in their specificity chapters IV and VI of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit.
Lecture with critical analysis of texts.
A ON-LINE SEMINAR dedicated to the critical analysis of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit is held ALL FRIDAY and/or SATURDAY MORNING.
