This course is part of the Minor "Art Critic and Curatorial Practices" which aims to trace the fundamentals of art history, from the late Middle Ages to the contemporary, analyzing the main artistic techniques and materials of art, in order to identify the changes in visual culture, also considering how much the systems of vision change - from perspective to the structures of installations in the environment. Attention will also be paid to conservation and restoration issues.

- knowledge and understanding: to know the basic terminology of the subject; to know the main artists and works of art
- ability to apply knowledge and understanding: knowing how to use the reference terminology and recognize the main artists and works of art being studied
- ability of judgment: knowing how to analyze a work of art or the poetics of an artist or a group/movement among those studied, referring them to a correct temporal and cultural location
- communicative skills: knowing how to use appropriate and specific terminology, introduced and explained in lessons or in reference texts
- learning ability: being able to recognize the fundamental protagonists of art

No prerequisites are required to attend the course
The course will analyze case studies on famous works of art, also from a technical and constructive point of view, together with the mechanisms of attribution and communication of the messages.
