The course is aimed at providing fundamental knowledge of EU law for an adequate understanding of the EU legal system and its role among the actors of the international community.
In particular, the historical development of the EU, the normative sources of EU law and the EU institutions, as well as specific matters of EU competence will be studied.
Said issues will be addressed having regard to the protection of fundamental human rights.
Each topic will also be analyzed with regard to cases drawn from the jurisprudence of the ECJ.
During classes, current issues involving EU policies will be addressed and discuss.

Written text: No. 10 multiple choices and No. 2 open questions.
Students may consult, during the exam, the official legal texts (i.e. the text of EU regulations) only in paper/print out format and only if such texts are free of comments or notes. Textbook and individual notes are not allowed.
Lecture and workshops aimed at studying and discussing ECJ judgments and specific topics.

Office hours take place via Zoom on Monday from 3 pm to 4 pm. Students are kindly required to send an email in order to schedule an appointment.

Thesis supervision shall be asked in person during office hours. Only to students who have passed the exam with a grade equal to or greater than 26/30 will be supervised. The first draft of the thesis must be delivered to the teacher at least one month before the deadline for uploading the thesis.
