This course is intended to provide basic and intermediate knowledge on the fabrication and characterization of nano-biomaterials, focusing on DNA-based nanomaterials.
At the end of the course, students are expected to know how to design simple three-dimensional nano-objects made of DNA, how to model their shapes, and how to encode such structures into the nucleobase squence of DNA strands.
An intermediate-to-advanced understanding of the biochemistry of nucleic acids is required.
1- BIOPOLYMERS FOR SELF-ASSEMBLY:

2- COMPOSITE NANOBIOMATERIALS:

SURFACE MODIFICATION OF NANOPARTICLES
CHEMICAL FUNCTIONALIZATION OF CARBON-BASED NANOMATERIALS
SURFACE ADSORPTION OF MOLECULES
NANOPORES LOADING

3- PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS OF NANOBIOMATERIALS:

3D REPRESENTATION OF ORIGAMI STRUCTURES (CanDo)
Lecture notes and scientific papers provided during lectures.
Oral exam as reported in the exam calendar.
Contents will be presented via lectures. Students will attend a bioinformatics laboratory where they will model a DNA origami structure and produce the strands necessary to fabricate the nanostructure.
