Expected learning outcomes
2. Knowledge and ability to solve the main problems of Public International Law in the fields of Migrations in particular and Human Rights in general;
3. Ability to understand a normative text and ability to develop an opinion on topics debated during the course;
4. Ability to write reports concerning cases seemingly discussed before the International Courts and Tribunals;
5. Ability to find and read the normative sources and case-law even through the main websites.

1. Actors, sources, enforcement and ascertainment of International Law.
Second Part. International Human Rights Law (eighteen hours).
2. Historical Development of Human Rights. Legal Foundation of Theories about Human Rights.
3. Regionalism and Universalism in International Human Rights Law. Customary Norms Concerning International Human Rights Law. Human Rights Treaties.
4. United Nations and Human Rights.
5. European Human Rights System. African, American and Arabic Human Rights Systems.
6. Main Human Rights Internationally Protected.
7. Human Rights, States and Non-State Actors. International Responsibility for Human Rights Violations.
Third Part. International Law of Migrations (nine hours).
8. Features of international law of migrations: citizenship, refugees and stateless people, the legal status of the foreigner.
9. The European Union and migrations.
10. The non-refoulement Principle and Other Means of Asylum Seekers Protection in the United Nations System and in the Council of Europe System.

Assessment methods
International Human Rights Law: colloquium consisting in two questions in ten minutes.
International Law of Migrations: colloquium consisting in one question in five minutes+ analysis and discussion of materials supplied during the last nine hours of the course.
Non-Attending students:
International Human Rights Law: colloquium consisting in two questions in ten minutes.
International Law of Migrations: colloquium consisting in one question in five minutes + evaluation of the brief reasoned presentation on the text provided by the teacher.

Students will be stimulated to debate.
