The teaching of the History of French Culture is part of the international literary-cultural and political curriculum of the course of study of Languages, Civilization and Language Sciences, in line with the aims of the course of study and the learning area of Literature and Cultures.
1. Knowledge and ability to understand: knowledge of the broad outlines of French history and the socio-cultural and historical-political dynamics affecting the production of certain cultural phenomena and materials; ability to understand texts and iconographic and audiovisual materials examined, both in terms of content and their socio-cultural, literary and artistic implications.
2. Applied knowledge and understanding skills: applying the acquired knowledge to the contextualisation of textual and iconographic materials in the historical-cultural, literary and political framework in which they were produced.
3. Autonomy of judgement: to formulate hypotheses of analysis; to know how to isolate cultural specificities by detailing their components and relating them to the context, also international; to be able to formulate a personal evaluation and comment on the cultural specificities that emerged during the study.
4. Communication skills: to understand the presentation of an academic discourse; to know how to present a studied problem in a clear and coherent way, to know how to argue in a coherent and effective way.
5. Learning skills: to recognise the type of text or material and to formulate hypotheses for analysis; to be able to relate what has been read or studied, to argue in a coherent and appropriate manner; to learn to establish appropriate links between the facts and materials examined and the ideas and context in which they are expressed.

In order for this teaching to be followed in the best possible way, a good knowledge, at least passive, of the French language (listening comprehension and written comprehension) is required.
The course proposes a route through the main French cultural and heritage institutions (academies, museums, libraries, historical monuments, theatres). The historical perspective (birth and history of the main institutions) will be flanked by an investigation into the aims that distinguish them and the evolution of policies of enhancement and openness to different types of public. Various ways of promoting access to culture and the protection and enhancement of French cultural and heritage assets will therefore be highlighted. Each of the realities examined will be contextualised historically and culturally. The materials covered will range from texts, including literary texts, to images, audio/video documents and digital resources.

The reference bibliography will be published at the beginning of the course and all the material will be made available on the Moodle platform.
Interview in which you will be asked to briefly illustrate (preferably in French) a topic that will be the subject of an in-depth examination chosen by the student. This will be followed by questions relating to the programme and the supporting readings indicated.
Lessons in blended mode: alternation of mostly asynchronous activities on the moodle teaching platform (podcasts, cards, in-depth pages, images, recorded videos, shared forum) and in-presence activities (online lectures, analysis and comparison of documents and texts, discussion).
The lessons will be mainly in Italian, with specific contents and texts examined in French.
Teaching materials will be made available during the course on the moodle platform.
