Expected learning outcomes
1. Knowledge and understanding
• Know the key sentences necessary to interact in business communication contexts.
• Know a lexicon of about 1300 characters and 1850 words, including economic and business terms (active competence).
• Have a solid knowledge of the grammatical system of modern Chinese, with particular attention to the syntax of written Chinese.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
• correctly use the key sentences necessary to interact in business communication contexts.
• understand intermediate written texts on eonomic-commercial topics, politics, society, recognizing characters and understanding the sentence structure.
• analyze and translate correctly into Italian intermediate texts on eonomic-commercial topics, politics, society (translation from Chinese).
• write using a lexicon of about 1300 characters and 1850 words, including economic and commercial terms.
• analyze and translate correctly into Chinese sentences including relatively complex grammatical structures (translation into Chinese).
3. Judgement capacity
• assess the level of one’s language knowledge, skills and abilities.

Pre-requirements
• Students are required to have a solid knowledge of the modern Chinese grammar.
• Only students who have passed the exam of Chinese Language 3.1 are admitted to take the exam.

ITALIAN-CHINESE TRANSLATION (Niu Guoqiang):

Assessment methods
a) a conversation in Chinese
b) written translation of a short text from Chinese into Italian
c) written translation of sentences from Italian into Chinese
Students will have to get at least 6 grades in each part, in order to pass the exam.
The translation exam (from Chinese into Italian) requires the use of paper dictionaries. The use of electronic dictionaries, smartphone or tablet is not allowed during the translation exam.
Teaching methods
a) lectures;
b) writing and conversation practice aimed at building and consolidating the knowledge, skills and competences necessary to meet the goals of the course;
c) tutoring aimed at discussing and clarifying specific language problems emerging during classes.
