This is one of the core courses within the "China" curriculum of the undergraduate course in "Lingue, Culture e Società dell'Asia e dell'Africa Mediterranea".
The course contributes to the attainment of the teaching goals of the Corso di Laurea in the area of language skills and includes also the more specific goals of the cultural and humanities areas.
The main objectives of the course are: 1) to understand the diachronic development of Chinese literature from oracle bones to Tang dynasty ( X sec. BC -X sec.AD); 2) to acquire tools for the analysis of a broad range of genres ; 3) to develop the judgement faculty and the skills to produce and communicate critical and interpretative discourses on the themes of the course.
1. Knowledge and understanding:
a) The student knows the evolution of Chinese pre-modern literature (beginnig to Tang synasty).
b) The students knows the literary personalities and the contributions of principal writers.
2. Applying knowledge and understanding:
a) The student is able to identify the most relevant literary genres, authors and works.
3.Communication:
a) The student is able to express the concepts acquired in a concise and appropriate manner.

History of Chinese literature from the oracle bones to the Tang dynasty. The course is a diachronic survey of pre-modern Chinese literature from the Eleventh century BC to the Tenth century AD: from bronze inscriptions to poetry anthologies, from dynastic histories to records of marvelous. In particular, the course will provide critical remarks on authors, works and literary genres of each period.
