Deepening the knowledge acquired in the three-year degree in the fields of Dantean studies and analysis of medieval texts. Acquisition of methods of analysis and of elements of literary criticism applicable to other works of the period and later periods.
Basis knowledge of the Italian literature of the 13th and the 14th centuries and of the structure and contents of the "Commedia".

Oral examination requesting
a) analytical commentary on a passage from Paradise;
b) critical discussion about the main interpretative problems related to the canticle
Frontal lessons and seminars.
Analysis of a choice of canti and episodes and discussion of some central issues for the interpretation of the cantica (the poetic language of the Paradise, vision and writing, the ancient myth in the Paradise, prophecy and politics).

I recommend the purchase of an annotated edition of the Paradise and the reading of the work before the start of classes.
