CONTEMPORARY HISTORY I

The course is among the Core Educational Activities of the Bachelor's degree course in Conservation of Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts Manageme; this course, held by prof. Casellato, with the program that appears detailed on this page, is reserved for students who follow the curriculum in Economics and Management of Arts and Cultural Activities.
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of the general lines and of some major themes of XXth century history, and to reflect on the presence, the use anche the communication of the past in contemporary society.

Knowledge and understanding:
- know the main events and processes that occurred in the historical period considered
- know some types of sources related to the historical period considered
- know the theoretical debate on Public History and some of its applications
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
- know how to orientate in the considered historical period
- know how to interpret and critically analyze some types of sources
- know how to recognize and discuss some forms of Public History
Judgment skills:
- know how to apply a critical and informed approach to the reconstructions of the past and to the analysis of documents
Communication skills:
- know how to talk about the historical period considered using appropriate terminology
- know how to interact with the teacher and peers in a critical and respectful way

At least elementary knowledge of the Italian language.
Knowledge of the general frameworks of modern and contemporary history acquired in high school.

Written test with short-answer questions on what is explained in class and on the bibliography of the course (points 1 and 2).
Students will also have to present a short dissertation with the presentation and analysis of a Public History case, in ways that will be communicated in class (and on Moodle). T
