Expected learning outcomes
Ability to employ knowledge and understanding : students will be able to master the main contents, concepts and terms of the course ; elaboration of personal and critical speech supporting by the tools provided by the teacher.
Capacity of judgment : students will be able to develop a critical approach on the different contents of the course and to provide a personal and informed opinion.

Contents
This course focuses on Venetian Renaissance painting (XV-XVIth centuries), with a particular attention to narrative painting for the Scuole (Carpaccio, Tiziano, Paris Bordon, Tintoretto, etc.). Through a deep investigation of historical and social context, religious debate, relationship between painting and sources and between artists and patrons, we will discuss the complexe and fascinating topics of pictorial invention and the representation of the other in Venetian Renaissance painting.
