Contents
The course will explore the concept of language as a fundamental expression of cultural heritage and will address, from a historical perspective, the evolution of the French language, its diffusion, its role as a cultural vehicle and the policies centred on it and implemented in France over the centuries. Some of the declinations of the language-culture relationship over time will be illustrated, from the Renaissance to the Grand Siècle, from the civilisation of the Enlightenment to the recent past.

Assessment methods
Teaching methods
Lessons will be mainly face-to-face and in Italian. The texts analysed will be mainly in French. There will be moments of guided individual reflection (mainly during asynchronous activities in the blended mode) and interaction in the classroom (short exposés) and at a distance (participation in the shared forum and other activities on Moodle). The schedule of lessons in asynchronous mode will be communicated at the beginning of the semester and will be available on the Moodle platform.
All the teaching materials (texts and in-depth studies) uploaded during the course on the Moodle platform will constitute a subject of study and knowledge of them will be tested in the exam.
The performance of the activities in asynchronous mode (on Moodle) is an integral part of the course and will be evaluated for the exam grade. Failure to complete at least 75% of these activities will result in a reduction in the final exam grade
