Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
The course will develop the following six (6) thematic areas:
1) interdisciplinary foundations and models of educational technologies in schools;
2) Instructional Design: design theories and models and digital educational approaches/strategies/methods in schools;
3) Universal Design for Learning: assistive and inclusive technologies for the school of inclusion;
4) media/digital literacy, media education, media consumption of adolescents and issues related to the use of digital technologies by young people;
5) educational research in the field of educational technologies;
6) European and national policies on e-skills and technologies for school innovation.
Expected learning outcomes
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: to demonstrate ability to recognise, distinguish and identify the different theories, approaches and models underlying educational projects with/through technologies.
Autonomy of judgement: to demonstrate the ability to critically elaborate and formatively evaluate the learning processes implemented with/through digital/technological environments/instruments.
Communicative skills: demonstrate mastery of the basic specialist vocabulary of the discipline in order to communicate clearly and unambiguously with the main actors in the school environment (teachers, pupils, parents, head teacher, school counsellors, etc.).
Learning skills: to demonstrate that you have acquired autonomy in continuing to update yourself in the field of teaching and educational technologies, in order to operate in a qualified way in future working contexts of teaching and training.

- Hints at educational research in the field of educational technologies
- Models and approaches of educational technologies for school education and teacher training (e-learning, blended learning, hybrid learning)
- Instructional Design Theories: From Basic Principles to ID Systems
- Universal design for learning: assistive and inclusive technologies for inclusive schools
- Methods and strategies for teaching/learning in digital learning environments, for the school environment and for continuous training (e.g.: flipped classoroom, digital storytelling, serius game, gammification, web problem based learning, computational thinking etc...)
- Media education and references to issues related to digital media use in adolescents (data security, cyberbullying, digital addiction, etc.).
- Technological and media consumption of students and families
- European and national policies on digital technologies and digital competences for schools

Assessment methods
Participation in the classroom is optional. They are held on Saturday mornings from 9.00 to 13.00.
Attendance to online lessons is compulsory.
Attendance at online lessons is verified by completing the online quiz by the established date, which is 23.50 on Sunday.
Those who are absent from the online lessons, can not be admitted to the final exam.
In case of impediments due to serious reasons, please contact your tutor immediately.
Online quizzes will be provided for each of the three online lessons and are required as well as preparation for the final exam.
WRITTEN EXAMINATION
A written test with 31 multiple-choice questions. The duration of the examination is about 40 minutes.
These questions concern theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during the course.
Teaching methods
- Three (3) lessons in attendance (5 hours each for a total of 15 hours), alternated with practical demonstrations, case studies, simulations with web and video support. Attendance at presence classes is not mandatory.
- Three online lessons (5 hours each for a total of 15 hours), accompanied by self-learning check on Moodle (multiple-choice items). Online lessons are mandatory.
