The course is part of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Business Administration.
The course wants to offer to the students the knowledges of labour law, in the national, European and international context, to guarantee to the students the acquisition of specific skills of labor law in the context of the processes of internationalization of the company and globalization of the markets, completing their skills in managements and staff management.
To this purpose, it will be essential the acquisition of the capacity of analise the law and the case law, and the development of the capacity of a critical vision of the phenomenons of internationalization of the enterprise and its effect on social rights and national labour law systems.
1. Knowledge and understanding
1. Knowledge in the field of national labor law, with particular reference to the ability to manage human resources in the essential moments of the employment relationship (choice of the contract type, discipline of functional flexibility, discipline of individual and collective dismissals , corporate restructuring), even in complex situations of internationalization of production processes (management of the company's international processes).
1.2 Knowledge of the principal European labour law and the historic evolution of the discipline
1.3 Knowledge of the functioning, the role, the tools and the mission of the International Labour Organization

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
2.1 Knowing how to distinguish and choose among the various types of labour contracts the most appropriate contract for a specific production needs
2.2 Knowing how to identify the legislation of reference which aims to regulate a particular type of contract relationship
2.3 Understand the relationship between fundamental economic freedoms and social rights, in the national, European and international context
2.4 Understand the fundamental role of the International Labor Organization in promoting social rights in the world

3. Ability to judge
3.1 Knowing how to interpret and identify the different multilevel sources of labor law
3.2 Knowing how to identify the possible problems encountered in the labor market for a company operating in the national, European and international markets
The prerequisites relate to the basic knowledge of private law and commercial law, as well as a knowledge of basic business subjects and economic concepts, especially those applied to the management of the company.
Fundamental notions of national labour law: autonomy and subordination, the powers of the employer (management, control and disciplinary), the tasks, the types of contracts (temporary contract, part time, job on call and smart-work), the transfer of company, the posting of workers, individual dismissal and collective redundancies.
Fundamental notions of European labour law: the historical normative evolution, the role of the European institutions, the European Directives on labor law
Fundamental notions of International labor law: the International Labor Organization (ILO), ILO Conventions and Recommendations, fundamental social rights, the concept of social justice and social dumping

Articles and working papers will be uploaded by the professor at the beginning of the course on the materials on line, available for the download, together with the slides which will be used during the lectures.
The learning mode is implemented through a final written test, with a multiple choice questions.
The written test consists of a text of 30 multiple choice questions; each question requires only one correct answer; to each correct answer 1 point will be assigned; the missing answer is considered as an incorrect answer; no points are removed from the total in the event of an incorrect answer.
Students will be able to acquire extra points (from 0 to 3 points), to be added to the final exam grade, optionally participating in working group on some topics and materials proposed by the teacher during the course, which include the preparation by the students of a presentation to be done in the classroom with some slides and of the drafting of a paper of about ten pages.
The extra points will be assigned by the teacher on the basis of the evaluation of the presentation done in the classroom by the students and on the critical capacity of analysis of the paper realized in a group. All the members of the group will receive the same score.
The extra points remain valid for all the four appeals of the academic year.
The teaching methods consist of lectures, with interaction and questions from the teacher, solicitation for reflection on current issues (e.g. gig economy and labor relations), team work, preparation of case law, doctrinal analysis.
