The lecture is aimed at introducing the most prominent observed atmospheric and climatic phenomena. A consideration of the interactions between ocean and atmosphere will enable the students to understand many phenomena related to the observed climate variability.
1. Knowledge and comprehension
Knowledge and comprehension concerning atmospheric phenomena and phenomena resulting from of the atmosphere-ocean interactions as well as their temporal and spatial evolution
2. Capability of applying knowledge and comprehension
Capability to recognize atmospheric phenomena from the analysis of observed data
3. Assessment capability
Capability of conjecturing possible evolutions of atmospheric and climatic phenomena
Basic mathematics and physics
Temperature and insolation
Atmospheric pressure and winds
Atmospheric moisture and precipitation
Air masses and fronts
Ocean atmosphere interactions
Climate classifications
Climate variability
