The course includes a part devoted to the study of the theory of translation with respect to the peculiarities of the Czech-Italian interlingual translation (realia, specificity of linguistic systems, use of the text) and a part of analysis and comparison of the published translations of texts of Czech literature. In particular on the different translations, in Italian but also in other languages, of two texts of Czech literature: Prague Tales by Jan Neruda The Good Soldier Švejk by Jaroslav Hašek
The study of the theory of translation involves the acquisition of terminology and methodological tools for the evaluation of the translation process. The translation part of the translation aims at the application of the acquired knowledge through the analysis of the linguistic peculiarities of the text and an articulated comparison of the different translation choices and the criticalities faced by the translators.
The comparison provides that the student works with translation tests performed by him of extracts from the texts in analysis according to certain critical issues highlighted in the analysis phase of the original text.
