The course aims at providing students with an intermediate knowledge of the most important structures of the written and spoken Chinese language. The course falls within the basic ones of the Chinese course of the Degree Course in Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and of Northern Africa, and provides students with further methodological tools in the linguistic-philological-glottodidactic field .
Objectives of the course are: to develop a capacity for reflection on language and to provide further methodological tools for linguistic analysis and interlinguistic comparison. Particular attention is given to phonological, morphological and syntactic aspects, with regards to the functional-communicative environment. Achieving these goals will allow the students to build solid foundations to develop further skills and knowledge..
1. Knowledge and understanding
1A. Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the basic linguistic terminology and understand the texts that use it.
1B. Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the basic mental structures of language and of the linguistic acquisition process both of mother tongue and of the foreign language, with particular reference to Chinese.
2. Have the ability to apply knowledge and understanding
2 A. Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of how to correctly use the linguistic terminology in all the processes of application and communication of the acquired knowledge.
2 B. Knowing how to operate a simple linguistic analysis of different aspects of one's mother tongue and of the Chinese language, taking into account the universal properties of language and the parameters of interlinguistic variation with respect to some specific phenomena.
2 C. Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the basic mental structures of language and of the linguistic acquisition process both of mother tongue and Chinese
3. Ability to judge
3 A. Knowing how to formulate and argue simple hypotheses, also developing a critical approach to the evaluation of alternative hypotheses.
4. Communication skills
4 A. Knowing how to communicate the specificities of linguistic reflection, using appropriate terminology.
4 B. Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of how to interact on an intermediate level with peers and with the tutor, in a critical and respectful way, both in class and on the forum of the virtual classroom.
5. Learning skills
5 A. Knowing how to take notes and share them in a collaborative way on the online platform.

Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
Can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Only the students who passed the exam of Chinese Language 1 are admitted to take the exam of Chinese Language 2.

The assessment of learning takes place through a written test consisting of a grammar test and a listening comprehension
Frontal lessons that also use educational modules available on the e-learning platform of the university moodle.unive.it. These modules offer the student the possibility to solve case studies of real linguistic problems and allow him / her to compare, sometimes even through videos, their own solutions with those proposed by the teacher or those used in practice.
This is a two terms course. The first term exam consists of a written test on principles of grammar and listening comprehension.

Students get 18 credits by passing both the first term exam and the second term exam.
The 10 cfu exam of the previous course of Chinese Language 2-1 consists of the same program and the same tests of the new course of Chinese Language 2 (first term).
