The main goals of the course are: to provide knowledge on the history of the Performing Arts and the fundamental tools for the interpretation of theatrical texts and performances; to provide tools for the analysis and discussion of the theatrical genres starting from 1868; to make the students acquire the skills to analyze the texts and themes; to start an analysis historically and philologically aware of the Performing Arts, from tradition to today, founded on the mastery of the technical language.

Lifelong learning skills:
- to know how to take notes in an effective way
- to know how to critically integrate the study of different materials (notes, slides, manuals, creative texts, academic articles)
