The intended aim is to offer an introduction to a regional language and literature of India, so as to appreciate its ethos and culture.
This is one of the interdisciplinary courses within the Indian Subcontinent curriculum of the Corso di Laurea in "Lingue, Culture e Società dell'Asia e dell'Africa Mediterranea".
Being able to read and write'Devanagari Script' correctly and to recognize ' Savarkar Script ' .
• Knowing how to make short sentences using simple words .
• Understanding and responding to instructions and short messages .
• Ability to read, understand and translate complete sentences .
• Being able to produce correct sentences using basic formal elements of the language .
• Being able to hold a short conversation .
• Learning about the customs, local traditions and important personalities of the Maharashtra State.
• Being able to reveal similarities or differences between the Marathi and the Hindi languages.
The linguistic level reached at the end of the course will be elementary.
Prior basic knowledge of Hindi or Sanskrit preferable.

All exercises will be done together in class.
The final exam will be exclusively oral, with reading and translation exercises.
