Expected learning outcomes
The students know the Spanish language at B1+ CEFR level.
The students know the properties of the different word classes and the differences between lexical and functional categories.
The students know and understand how Spanish word classes project their respective phrases.
The students know and understand the basic notions of syntactic analysis and the basic linguistic terminology.
2. Applying knowledge and understanding:
The students are able to recognize the different word classes and their properties.
The students are able to recognize the basic sintactic structures of Spanish language.
The students are able to describe the grammatical constructions and the grammatical phenomena studied in the course and are able to use the linguistic terminology correctly.
The students are able to interact in communicative situations on a B1+ CEFR level.
The students are able to understand and produce oral and written texts at B1+ CEFR level.
3. Making judgments:
The students will be able to formulate simple hypotheses in Spanish language, and to argument their judgement with empirical evidence.
4. Communication:
Level B+ of the CEFR, for receptive skills, written production, oral production and oral interaction. Students should be able to express themselves clearly, in a structured way, and with few errors.
The studens will be able to to argument critically and respectfully with the peers and with the teacher.
5. Learning skills:
The students are able to take notes effectively and to share them with the peers in a collaborative form.
The students are able to consult the references in the syllabus and to paraphrase them.

1. Syntactic, morphological a interpretive tests to recognize the different classes of words.
2. Prepositions. General and specific properties of the different prepositions in Spanish. Lexical and functional prepositions. The syntax of the accusative 'a'. The Prepositional Phrase.
3. The Noun. Number and gender. General proerties of proper and common nouns. Properties of the individual/collective common nouns and countable/uncountable common nouns. The Noun Phrase.
4. The Adjective. General syntactic and interpretive properties of adjectives. The properties of the different classes of adjective. Comparative and superlative formation rules. the use of 'ser' and 'estar'. The Adjectival Phrase.
5. The determinaer. General properties of the determiners in Spanish. The Determiner Phrase. Properties of the definite article. The nominal ellipsis phenomenon. The values and syntactic properties of 'lo'. The indefinite article and the syntax of 'unos/unas'. The syntax of the demonstratives. The syntax of clitic possessive forms.
6. The syntax of the strong possessive forms.
7. The Quantifier. General properties and the syntactic properties of the universal quantifiers vs. the existential quantifiers.
8. Personal Pronouns. General interpretive and syntactic properties. pronominal clitic clusters and clitic doubling.
9. The Verb. General properties. Lexical and funcional verbs. The Verb Phrase.
10. The Adverb. General properties and different classes of adverbs.

Assessment methods
Written part (worth 60% of the final mark):
a. Lingua Spagnola mod. 2: a written test consisting of 5 or 6 questions/ exercises which will cover all the linguistics aspects studied during the course. Language: Spanish. Duration: 45 minutes.
b. Lingua Spagnola mod. 1, 3, 4: a written test consisting of 50 questions/ exercises which will cover all the linguistics aspects studied during the course. Language: Spanish.
Oral part (worth 40% of the final mark):
It will take place at the end of the course. The oral part will assess the contents covered in the language practice labs (corso di esercitazioni).
