The first module of Accounting and Business Administration presents a thorough and systematic introduction to contemporary principles and practices of managing. It focuses on the basic roles, skills and functions of management, with special attention to managerial responsibility for effective and efficient achievement of goals. Special attention is given to organisation culture, planning and decision-making, and controlling. Each week we’ll focus on different aspects of the managerial process, its inherent issues, problems, and solutions. The textbook chosen for this course offers an excellent assembly of text, real life illustrations, personal surveys, and case studies.
What students can expect to learn after attending this course:

- what are the main theoretical perspectives on management and how they relate to each other
- what are the cultures and contexts within which managers work and how to analyze them

The main reference for the course is “Management: An Introduction“ by David Boddy, Pearson Education Limited; 7th edition, (2016).

Credentials to enter moodle platform will be communicated in class.
There will be one exam at the end of term. It will be closed-notes/closed book. It will cover content of chapters 1-8, and chapters 10, 13 19-20. The exam will be composed of multiple-choice and open questions. Lectures and the textbook are the primary sources of preparation for the exam.
The teaching format for this course will include frontal lectures, group and/or individual class assignments.

There will be also 5 integration activities during term time conducted by the teaching assistant. The purpose of integration activities is to identify and/or make connections with course concepts and the real life experience of managers and firms. For integration activities, students will be asked to reflect and respond to case studies included in each chapter of the textbook.
