The course contributes to the educational objectives of the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Digital management which aims at providing students with updated knowledge on the implications of digital technology on organizational processes and strategies. The course is divided in two parts. The first one (6 cfu) discusses the strategic implications of digital technologies. Specifically students will be guided in understanding and analyzing the discontinuities introduced by digital technologies in the formulation and execution of firm strategies. The second part of the course (6 cfu) will discuss the processes through which innovative business models are developed and deployed, with reference to both cases of pure players and cases of digital transformation of brick and mortar businesses.
1 KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
- Know the pillars of strategic management
- Know the main implications of digital technologies on firm strategies;
- Know the basics of digital technology introduction and implementation in organizations.
2 APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
- Apply digital technology to the analysis of competitive data;
- Recognize the conditions determining the effectiveness of digital technologies in different firms
- Being able to operate in multidisciplinary teams composed by functional experts and professionals in the domain of digital technology.

To tackle the course, a basic knowledge of accounting is required.

The exam will be written. The written exam (70% of the final grade) will include 15 multiple choice questions, that will be about the topics covered in the course. Attending students will participate in team projects (30% of the final grade). Non-attending students will be evaluated on the final exam.
