ISBA 2024: Successful "Bayes in Finance and Insurance" Session

The sponsored session "Bayes in Finance and Insurance" was one of the highlights of the ISBA2024 conference of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA), held at the San Giobbe campus of Ca' Foscari University of Venice, 1-7 July 2024.

Organized by Prof. Daniele Durante (Bocconi University), Prof. Roberto Casarin (Ca' Foscari University), and Dr. Davide Consiglio (Chief Data Officer of Generali Italia), the session brought together academics and industry professionals to discuss the latest applications of Bayesian methods in finance and insurance. Session chair, Prof. Antonio Canale, led a stimulating discussion on the challenges and emerging opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.

The session was sponsored by two main corporate sponsors of ISBA2024, Generali and Eurizon, confirming the importance of collaboration between academia and industry to promote innovation and development in this field.

The session featured presentations of innovative research by industry experts, including Dr. Andrea Trovato, Dr. Anna Illiano, and Dr. Marco Momo. Their work addressed topics such as Bayesian time series modeling, tactical asset allocation, insurance policy duration prediction, and the application of Bayesian model averaging to improve anti-fraud models.

Discussants Prof. Adrian Raftery and Prof. Mike West provided insightful comments and food for thought, stimulating a constructive dialogue between the speakers and the audience.

The organizers are thrilled with the success of the "Bayes in Finance and Insurance" session at ISBA 2024. The enthusiasm and active participation of those present demonstrate the growing interest in the application of Bayesian methods in the financial and insurance sectors.
