Fasano Giovanni was born in Rome on 02/15/1967, of Italian nationality. Since 03/15/2018, he has been an Associate Professor (Scientific Disciplinary Sector MAT/09) at the Department of Management - Venice School of Management of Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He obtained his Scientific Maturity in 1986 at the scientific high school "B. Pascal" in Pomezia (Rome) with a grade of 60/60. He graduated on July 23, 1997, in Electronic Engineering with a specialization in Automation at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a grade of 110/110. The thesis discussed was titled: "Convergenza e Prestazioni del Metodo di Newton per Sistemi Singolari Nonlineari," supervisor Prof. Stefano Lucidi. From January to July 1998, he attended the Advanced Course in Theory and Mathematical Methods for Analysis, Control, and Optimization of Systems at the faculties of Mathematics and Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza," following courses in: Functional Analysis, Calculus of Variations, Foundations of Stochastic Processes, Differential Geometry, Approximation Methods, Combinatorial Optimization I and II, Control Seminar, Optimization Seminar, Theory and Algorithms of Optimization II. In February 1999, he discussed the final thesis for this course titled "Riformulazioni non Lineari per Problemi Combinatori." In March 1998, he passed the qualifying exam for the profession of Engineer. From March 1998 to May 2001, he regularly attended and completed the PhD course in Operations Research (XIII cycle) at the Department of Computer Science and Systems "A. Ruberti" of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" under the supervision of his tutor Prof. Stefano Lucidi, discussing the final thesis titled "Use of Conjugate Directions inside Newton-type Algorithms for Large Scale Unconstrained Optimization." In August 1998, he attended the course on Linear and Nonlinear Optimization held by Prof. P. Hansen and D.P. Bertsekas at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. In October 1998, he attended the course on Nonsmooth Optimization: Algorithms and Applications held in Germany at the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut of Oberwolfach, led by Prof. W. Achtziger (Erlangen), M. Kocvara (Prague), and J. Zowe (Erlangen). He participated in the Summer School on Generalized Convexity and Monotonicity held at the University of the Aegean in Greece (Samos) in August 1999, following the lectures of Prof. J.P. Crouzeix, J.B.J. Frenk, N. Hadjisavvas, D.T. Luc, J.E. Martinez-Legaz, J.P. Penot, S. Schaible.
