BAGHDAD, HAIFA, BERLIN Reconnecting the Middle East

Mati Shemoelof is a multilingual writer, poet, curator, and editor. Born and raised in Haifa, Israel, he now lives and works in Berlin where he founded “Poetic Hafla” a group that has created literary, music & art performance events featuring a diverse collection of artists from all over the world. He also founded “Anu אנו نحن : Jews and Arabs writing in Berlin” a literary group that promoted a cultural dialogue between writers and artists from the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa.

The event is part of Voices against the Silence: between Diaspora and Protest, a seminar series by the Department of Asian and North African Studies in collaboration with Archivio Scritture Scrittrici Migranti.
