2024 Nobel Prize in Economics to Acemoglu, Johnson, and Robinson
The 2024 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, was awarded to Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and James A. Robinson (University of Chicago), for their studies on how institutions are formed and affect prosperity. Professor Valerio Dotti comments on the topic.
Closures from 24 Dec. to 6 Jan. Offices (online), BEC and CFZ open on 2-3
Ca' Foscari University venues will be closed for the holidays from Tuesday 24 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025. On 2 and 3 January, the University's administrative activities will resume online only and the BEC and CFZ libraries will be open.

Ca' Foscari has been included in the inaugural Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) and is recognised as one of the world's top 250 universities for interdisciplinary research in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
'Caserma Pepe' at Venice Lido: project for student residence gets funded
The Ministry of University and Research is funding a project by Ca' Foscari University Venice to construct a student residence at the "ex Caserma Pepe" on the Venice Lido, with an investment of 26.9 million euros.
The project from the Venetian university received the third-largest funding among all submitted projects.
Ice loss in Greenland’s mountain glaciers
Conducted by CNR-Isp, in collaboration with Ca' Foscari University of Venice, the Universities of Freiburg and Copenhagen and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, the research used data acquired by satellites over 35 years and contributes to the understanding of the impact of global warming on the cryosphere. The results were published in the Journal of Glaciology.
Studying street art: An outdoor laboratory for Conservation Science
Vallà is hamlet in the town of Riese Pio X that gained fame for a participatory urban regeneration project called The Wallà. In June 2024, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics, and Statistics, for the study of the conservation of outdoor mural artworks. Arianna Abbafati and Giovanni Milan shared with us their first field experience, which took place last October.

Vera Buffolo, a Ca’ Foscari alumna, is part of the production team of Europarl Radio, the European Parliament's official web radio, which creates and broadcasts original audio content daily in all 24 official languages of the European Union.
