Members of Ca’ Foscari’s community, including students, faculty, administrative staff, researchers, fellows, librarians, and language experts, are exempt from paying the access fee, but may still be required to present a voucher to validate their exemption. You do not need to present a voucher validating your exemption if: you reside in the Municipality of Venice or in the Veneto Region, or if you show your University badge.

Please find below a brief overview of various access fee cases:

1. Exemption from payment and from voucher acquisition
If you reside in Veneto or were born in the Municipality of Venice, you are exempt from paying the access fee and do not need to obtain an exemption voucher. You will only need to present an identity document in the event of an inspection.
If you are a student at Ca’ Foscari University (campuses in Venice, Mestre, or Treviso), including those who commute or live away from home, you are exempt from paying the access fee. You can prove your student status by presenting your university student card. Please note that the exemption as a student is valid solely for study-related purposes.

2. Exemption from payment by acquiring a voucher (if you study or work at Ca’ Foscari).
If you work (whether as an employee or self-employed, on a regular or occasional basis) on the island of Venice or on the smaller surrounding islands, you are exempt from paying the access fee. If you are not a resident of the Veneto region or were not born in Venice, you must register on the City of Venice website at https://cda.ve.it to obtain an exemption voucher, which must be presented if requested during inspections. To complete the procedure, you will also be asked to provide the address of your university (Dorsoduro 3246, 30123 Venezia), except in the case of occasional workers. Please note that this exemption is valid only for work-related purposes.

NEW! Specific Cases: Master’s Degree Thesis Defence
Family members (up to third-degree relatives) of graduating students attending a thesis defence at one of our venues are exempt from paying the access fee. To obtain the exemption, they must register on the Venice Municipality website and obtain the relevant voucher to present in the event of an inspection. The request should be made by selecting "Reason for requesting exemption" and clicking on "I need to access for other reasons."
