The organising committee is delighted to announce that the 15th edition of the IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (IFIP WMNC) will be held by Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy, on 11th-12th November 2024. IFIP WMNC 2024 will represent a discussion forum for researchers, professionals, and students interested in novel developments in mobile and wireless networks, services, and applications and mobile computing. IFIP WMNC combines PWC (Personal Wireless Communications conference), MWCN (Mobile and Wireless Communication Networks conference), and WSAN (Wireless Sensors and Actor Networks conference) into one event. It is Technically Sponsored by IFIP.

Call for papers

WMNC 2024 Technical Program Committee invites authors to submit manuscripts with original research results that have not been previously published, or that are not currently under review by another conference or journal. The following contributions are welcome:

  • research papers reporting on new trends and developments;
  • application papers reporting on academia developments of technologies, products, services, systems and solutions;
  • performance evaluation and experimentation papers;
  • industry practice papers.

Submissions will be judged based on originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. All submitted papers will be subject to peer reviews by Technical Program Committee members and other experts in the field. 

Authors are invited to submit full papers (up to 8 pages, double-column in IEEE conference Format) or short papers (up to 5 pages, double-column in IEEE conference Format), according to the guidelines available on Paper and Submission Guideline. Accepted papers will be published in the IFIP Digital Library. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version for a fast-track review in a Special Issue of one or more journals indexed on WoS/Scopus.

Papers can be submitted through Edas portal and publication guidelines will be noticed and available online in few weeks.

Venue

The conference is scheduled to take place at the Scientific Campus of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, situated in Mestre at via Torino 155. Scientific sessions will be held either at the Auditorium “D. Mainardi” or in the conference room “O. Zanetto” (depending on the number of accepted papers), both located in the Alfa Building, which is the first building on the left upon entering the Scientific Campus.

Mestre, a district of the Venice municipality, is located on the mainland adjacent to the Venetian lagoon, directly facing the historic city islands. It is connected to the islands via the 4 km rail-road bridge known as the "Ponte della Libertà". The entire Venice municipality is serviced by AVM-ACTV public transport, including buses and trams on the mainland and vaporetto boats on the lagoon, providing convenient access to all destinations in the area.
Venezia-Mestre train station, the primary station in Mestre, is approximately 2 km from the Scientific Campus and serves as a significant railway junction with connections to major Italian cities (mainly operated by Trenitalia and Italo) and various European destinations. Throughout the day, direct connections are available to Venezia-Santa Lucia train station, situated on the historic centre islands of Venice.

For those arriving by car, parking is available in front of the Alfa building or in the surrounding neighborhood.

Marco Polo international airport, located in the northern part of the Venice municipality, is roughly 10 km from the Scientific Campus. It serves as one of Italy's main airports, offering flights to numerous European cities and some long-haul destinations in North America, the Middle East, and the Far East. 
From the airport, transportation options include land routes (by bus or taxi) to Mestre or Venice (Piazzale Roma), or water routes to Venice (via Alilaguna boat or water taxi).

Additionally, the Antonio Canova airport in Treviso serves mainly low-cost airlines for Italian and European routes.
From the airport you can reach Mestre or Venice (Piazzale Roma) by land (on a bus, train or taxi).

Accomodation

We recommend exploring accommodation options in the vicinity between the Campus and Mestre train station. This area offers a range of choices, from upscale hotels to more budget-friendly options. The conference venue is conveniently within a maximum 15-minute walking distance from this area. Alternatively, accommodations can also be booked in the Venice city centre. From there, the Scientific Campus is accessible for example by bus number 43, departing from Piazzale Roma.
