Final examination

The final exam consists of writing and discussing an original thesis on a topic agreed upon with the supervisor, assisted by an advisor. Both the thesis and the discussion must be in English.
The thesis should be a critical and interpretative analysis of an interdisciplinary theme and can be related to an internship.
The final exam will be designed to ensure that it incorporates multiple disciplines. This will be accomplished by:

  1. interdisciplinary workshops and/or extracurricular activities related to the thesis topics,
  2. the assistance of an advisor skilled in disciplines complementary to those of the thesis supervisor.

The final exam preparation and execution will focus on developing a language merging the humanities and natural science disciplines. This will facilitate the creation of new perspectives and narratives to promote human, social, and environmental sustainability.

A total of 21 credits (CFUs) are attributed upon positive completion of the final examination.

The final examination procedure is managed by the supervisor in coordination with the Educational Programmes Office of the Department of Studies on Asia and Mediterranean Africa.

Final exam procedure

The final exam consists in a written paper (Master’s thesis) on a theme agreed with the supervisor and discussion of the thesis before a Committee, in English. In the final exam, students must demonstrate the ability to use the sources and/or scientific literature in the chosen language of study.

Supervisor and co-supervisor

The subject matter of the final test must be agreed with the supervisor supported by a co supervisor. The supervisor and the co supervisor must be experts with different scientific competence. Any exceptions to this rule must be approved by the course Teaching Board.

The thesis supervisor shall be responsible for giving the name of the co-supervisor to the Educational Programmes Office of the Department of Studies on Asia and Mediterranean Africa ( lauree.campuslingue@unive.it).
