The Master's Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology aims at training professionals suitable for employment in industry and research in areas where a high level of training is required in the fields of software development and design, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Together with the fundamentals of these areas, students will acquire application skills of crucial importance for the labour market, technology transfer and applied research. The course of study provides a close look at the manufacturing sectors by offering internship and/or traineeship opportunities with leading companies in the sector. The courses emphasise the design activity that accompanies students from the first year of the course. The choice of three curricula designed on areas of interest that are extremely relevant to society (Software Development and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, Cybersecurity) allows for a high degree of specialisation, thanks also to the highly qualified teaching staff, who are active in the international research and technology transfer scene. The flexibility of the curriculum, which is achieved through free-choice courses, enables the completion of the training according to the interests of each student.
Learning activities comprise taught courses, workshop-based projects and training/internships so that students can acquire a broad range of competencies, both theoretical and practical, that are transferable to the world of work, as well as life-long learning skills.
Learning outcomes are continuously assessed by means of written exams, oral exams, assignments, project reports, presentations, and group as well as student-teacher discussions.
The final exam consists of a dissertation that must contain original research, documentation and exhaustive scientific analysis, and that must be defended before a committee made up of university professors and experts.
Professional Master’s Programmes (1st level and 2nd level) and PhD programmes.
This Master's Degree Programme produces high-quality experts who may operate in the fields of software construction and data analysis, both in manufacturing companies dealing with information systems and processor networks, and in companies, local authorities and laboratories using complex information systems and analysis methods, both at a national and international level.
In particular, Computer Science and Information Technology graduates at Ca' Foscari will acquire skills for the production of reliable and correct software, with particular emphasis on security problems of IT systems. Moreover, they will acquire competencies concerning the management, intelligent treatment and analysis of data, which are particularly large, heterogeneous, and produced at high speed.
Moreover, second cycle graduates may take the professional licensing examination to register on the Italian roll of information engineers (section A).
