Admission test: Linguistic-cultural and logic-aptitude tests. An understanding of B1-level English is expected, understanding of Italian grammar and general cultural, historical and geographical understanding of Spanish and Spanish-speaking countries.
To access the course, a previous suitable background is required. Each curriculum requires specific knowledge, which the student should have before enrolling the university in order to attend the course successfully. This knowledge may be verified before enrolling.
If the result of the test is negative, the student can enroll, but they receive a supplementary required exam (OFA), which means that the student must fill any gaps in their background through specific activities organized by the University.

The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation focuses on English and Spanish languages and cultures. You can choose French or Portuguese as a third optional language. The course tackles strategies and techniques of liaison interpretation (especially in negotiations) and focuses on translations in specialised areas such as tourism,
economics and publishing. An overview of translation technologies is also part of the syllabus.
The programme offers courses on the culture and literature of the countries where the languages of your choice are spoken, on economic and political geography and on digital tools for tourism marketing analysis, to name a few. You will acquire skills related to the technologies and tools in the field of linguistic and cultural mediation.
Graduates from this programme will be versed in all aspects of oral and written international linguistic mediation in realms such as culture, politics and tourism or in social services. They could work as linguistic consultants in both the public and the private sectors, national and international, or as external relations officers in Italian companies operating abroad.
They could operate in the promotion and valorisation of cultural heritage, and in the tourism sector. Moreover, they could work in writing and translation of a variety of texts, from and into the languages they have studied, and be professionally involved in interlingual communication in industries such as publishing and multimedia.
The educational activities include classroom teaching, workshops and internships, in order to acquire wide-ranging skills that can be readily transferable into the world of work.
Knowledge acquired by students will be assessed through written and oral exams during the entire university career.
The degree exam consists in preparing a paper/thesis, evaluated according to methods similar to those of written exams but not in the presence of the student. The supervisor may require an oral discussion of the paper/thesis, in case they consider it to be necessary.
Professional Master’s Programmes (1st level) and Master's Degree Programmes
Graduates will have the opportunity to work as linguistic and cultural consultants in both public and private institutions, nationally and internationally. They may also assume roles in external and commercial relations for Italian firms operating abroad, as well as in promoting tourism, hospitality, and enhancing cultural heritage.
They will be able to provide mediation, support, and guidance services for foreign citizens, facilitating their interactions with public and private institutions and improving access to services and benefits across various sectors.
Furthermore, graduates in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation may engage in editorial and translation support, working with texts in and from their studied languages for informational purposes. They may also contribute to interlinguistic communication within the publishing and multimedia sectors.
