Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)

OFA in Logic - Mathematics

The Computer Science degree programme requires adequate knowledge of mathematics, logic, and reading comprehension.

Your mathematics, logic, and reading comprehension knowledge will be tested during the TOLC-I or English TOLC-I test offered by CISIA. You are recommended to take this test in order to evaluate your level of knowledge at the enrolment stage.

If you do not sit the test or if you score less than 20 out of 40 you can enrol but you will be assigned the Additional Learning Requirement - ALR (Obbligo Formativo Aggiuntivo - OFA) in logic-mathematics. Please note that science and English language sections are excluded from the total score.

If you have been assigned the logic-mathematics OFA, you will not be allowed to take any Basic and Core Educational Activities exams until its fulfilment.

If you do not fulfill the OFA before October 1st, 2026, you will not be allowed to take any exams included in your study plan until its fulfilment.

How to fulfil the OFA

If you have been assigned the logic - mathematics OFA, you can fulfil it as follows:

  • Successfully passing the course CT0623 - Matematica di base or CT0678 - Mathematics Background. Throughout the first academic year, the University schedules five exam sessions for the fulfilment of the OFA. The first session is planned at the end of the relative course. The following four sessions are arranged at the end of each period.
  • Successfully passing the TOLC-I or English TOLC-I scoring more than 20/40 (the English language and science sections are excluded from the total score).
Exemption from the Logic- Mathematics OFA

You will not be assigned the OFA in Mathematics if you:

  • Obtained credit recognition for at least 3 CFU in mathematics when enrolling;
  • Successfully passing the TOLC-I or English TOLC-I scoring more than 20/40 (the English language and science sections are excluded from the total score).

English Language

The Data Science curriculum which is taught in English, requires a minimum B2-level knowledge of the English language.

You can demonstrate your English knowledge level by submitting one of the recognised certifications or if you fall within one of the exemption categories listed on the language requirements webpage.

If you do not satisfy the English language requirement at the time of enrolment, you will be assigned an Additional Learning Requirement - ALR (Obbligo Formativo Aggiuntivo – OFA) that must be satisfied by the end of your first year of study (deadline of October 1st, 2026).

If you do not fulfill the OFA before October 1st, 2026, you will not be allowed to take any exams included in your study plan until its fulfilment.
