Starting in April 2024, visitors entering the historic city of Venice on several selected dates will have to pay a daily access fee.

The fee is currently due for access on on April 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, May 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, and July 6, 7, 13, and 14. Scroll down to see which groups of people are exempt from payment.

Members of Ca’ Foscari’s community (students, faculty, administrative staff, language assistants, research fellows, research grant holders, etc.) do not have to pay the access fee. However, if they were not born or reside in the Municipality of Venice, they may still need a voucher to prove their exemption.

Please find below a summary of various access fee scenarios:

You live in the Comune di Venezia (Municipality of Venice) or were born here

If you were born or live in the Municipality of Venice, you are not required to pay the entry fee and do not have to acquire any voucher to demonstrate you are exempt. All you need to do is show your I.D. in case of controls.

You are a Ca’ Foscari employee

If you work (employed or self-employed, regularly or occasionally) on the main island of Venice or the smaller islands, you are exempt from paying the access fee. However, you must register on the Municipality of Venice website and obtain a special exemption voucher that you can show when asked to do so.
The address of the University (required during the procedure) is Dorsoduro 3246, 30123 Venice.
Please note that this kind of exemption is only valid for work-related purposes.

You are a Ca’ Foscari student

Ca' Foscari students are not required to pay the access fee, even when they don’t live in the city centre and commute from out of town. Students of any school based in Venice are exempt. You can get your exemption voucher from the Municipality of Venice website and show it in case of controls. The address of the University (required during the procedure) is Dorsoduro 3246, 30123 Venice.
Please note that this kind of exemption is valid for study purposes only.
