Edmund de Waal, well-known writer and ceramist, will be at Auditorium S. Margherita on Tuesday October 31st at 5pm for “The White Road : poetry, porcelain, passion”.

Edmund de Waal will talk about art and writing, two different ways of expression that share our obsessions for the way we see and read objects and texts.
He will tell us about his recent projects, looking back at the extraordinary story of his family who has always been intertwined with his artistic and literary works.
Edmund de Waal published a memoir, The Hare with Amber Eyes (2010), that was translated in thirty languages and won many prestigious awards.
In 2016 he published The White Road, a fascinating journey about his passion for white gold and an attempt to understand the mysterious charm of porcelain, its fragile quality and its colour which have haunted men, realms and philosophical thoughts for centuries.

The meeting was organized by the International Center for the Humanities and Social Change, created in 2017 at Ca’ Foscari to explore the creative potentialities of humanities and develop a critical analysis of our contemporary world.

The meeting will be held in English and translated into Italian, with free access subject to the availability of spare places. Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the event.
