Marie Curie Global@Venice call: Research and training for global challenges

On 15 March 2021 the first call for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global@Venice - Research and Training for Global Challenges was published. The Cofund Fellowship is a new, 60-month long programme which started on 1 January 2021 and is jointly funded by the European Commission and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. It is an opportunity for talented researchers from all over the world to spend a period of research and training at Ca’ Foscari. 

The aim of the programme is to strengthen the curricula of brilliant researchers, in order to provide Europe and the world with a pool of researchers capable of bridging the gaps between academia and applied research, and between research and the market. This important project is implemented by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and its partners, including strategic research centres and a non-academic network of spin-offs, small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) and large companies, in which Research Fellows will have the opportunity to be on a secondment or to conduct research and training activities. The first call will fund a maximum of 8 projects lasting 24 months each. The projects will have to be presented among one of Ca’ Foscari’s six multidisciplinary Research for Global Challenges Institutes. Each Institute will support the selected Research Fellows throughout the programme. Candidates will be able to choose a potential supervisor at Ca’ Foscari who will monitor and support the Fellows’ progress within the Research Institute. The G@V experience, therefore, is also an excellent opportunity for international networking and for the development of transferable skills. Research Fellows will become part of a large MSCA community – in fact, more than 100 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellows have chosen Ca’ Foscari as a Host Institution. 

The opening date is 15 March 2021. The deadline to submit applications is 5pm (CET) 30 June 2021. The projects will start from March 2022. 

Research Fellows of any nationality on the date of the deadline (5 pm CET 30 June 2021) must meet the following criteria to apply: 

• hold a PhD degree awarded not later than 8 years prior to this call deadline; 

• have at least one major publication without his/her PhD supervisor (either accepted, in press or published) at the time of deadline;

• have not resided or carried out her/her main activity in Italy for longer than 12 months in the 3-year period before the call deadline, in compliance with MSCA mobility rules.
