Anna Maria Rapetti si è laureata in Storia presso l'Università degli Studi di Milano e ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in Storia medievale-Storia delle istituzioni ecclesiastiche presso l'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano nel 1996. È stata assegnista post-doc presso l’Università degli studi di Genova e di Milano. Dal 2002 è ricercatrice di Storia medievale presso l'Università Ca’ Foscari, Dipartimento di Studi umanistici (prima Studi storici), dal 2015 è professore associato nello stesso Dipartimento. Ha ottenuto l'abilitazione alla I fascia nel settore scientifico-disciplinare 11-HIST/01 (storia medievale).
Suoi principali ambiti di ricerca sono:
- la storia del monachesimo medievale, con particolare attenzione ai movimenti religiosi come fattore di innovazione nei processi di evoluzione istituzionale del pieno medioevo. In questo ambito ha privilegiato di recente l’analisi dei fenomeni monastici e dei loro rapporti con le autorità laiche ed ecclesiastiche e con la società, con particolare riferimento alle comunità di Venezia;
- lo sviluppo delle strutture funzionali e organizzative delle comunità monastiche, in particolare delle gerarchie comunitarie cistercensi e certosine in Italia tra XI e XIV secolo;
- la storia delle istituzioni ecclesiastiche e monastiche italiane in prospettiva comparativa (X-XIII secolo); le strutture organizzative delle comunità monastiche tra XI e XIV secolo; il monachesimo veneziano, in particolare femminile, dalle origini al XIII secolo e i suoi rapporti con la società, l’aristocrazia e il potere politico;
- la storia delle campagne e la storia delle trasformazioni ambientali, in particolare dell'Italia settentrionale, dall'alto al basso medioevo, con particolare riguardo alle trasformazioni del paesaggio rurale, all’evoluzione degli insediamenti e della proprietà fondiaria (IX-XVI secolo).
È autrice di una sessantina di contributi scientifici, da sola e come co-autore, tra cui 8 monografie, saggi, articoli in riviste, atti di convegni, edizioni di fonti. Ha partecipato a convegni nazionali e internazionali in Europa e in Argentina. È condirettore scientifico della collana Studi di storia delle Edizioni Ca' Foscari-Digital Publishing. Ha fatto parte delle unità di ricerca locali in progetti nazionali (PRIN 2002, PRIN 2004, PRIN 2010-11, PRIN 2017) e titolare di progetti FSE (Fondi sociali Europei).
Dal suo arrivo a Ca' Foscari ha tenuto o tiene i seguenti incarichi istituzionali:
- membro del Collegio docenti del Dottorato di ricerca in Storia sociale europea dal medioevo all’età contemporanea dell’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia; membro del Collegio docenti, della Commissione didattica e del Consiglio direttivo del Dottorato in Studi Storici, Geografici, Antropologici del Veneto (Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia-Università degli studi di Verona-Università degli studi di Padova);
- vicecoordinatore e referente per Ca' Foscari del Dottorato in Studi Storici, Geografici, Antropologici del Veneto (Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia-Università degli studi di Padova);
- membro e poi Presidente del collegio didattico del Corso di laurea in Storia (triennale e magistrale) del Dipartimento di studi umanistici;
- presidente della Commissione paritetica docenti-studenti del Dipartimento di studi umanistici;
- delegata all'Assicurazione Qualità e alla Sostenibilità e inclusione del Dipartimento di studi umanistici;
- presidente del Centro di Ricerche antropologiche geografiche e storiche (AGeS) presso il Dipartimento di Studi umanistici;
- membro del Centro di documentazione e ricerca sulla scuola e la didattica (CE.DO.DI.) presso il Dipartimento di Studi umanistici;
- membro del Comitato scientifico del Centro interdipartimentale di studi storici sul cristianesimo, rappresentante per il Dipartimento di Studi umanistici dell’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia.
Anna Maria Rapetti graduated in History from the University of Milan and obtained a PhD in Medieval History - History of ecclesiastical institutions at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan in 1996. She was a post-doctoral candidate at the Universities of Genoa and Milan. Since 2002 she has been a researcher in Medieval History at Ca' Foscari University, Department of Humanities (previously History), since 2015 she has been Associate Professor in the same Department. Qualified as full professor in Medieval History (11-HIST/01) in 2020 (ASN - National Scientific Qualification/HDR).
Her main areas of research are
- the history of medieval monasticism, with particular attention to religious movements as a factor of innovation in the processes of institutional evolution in the Middle Ages. In this context, she has recently focused on the analysis of monastic phenomena and their relations with the lay and ecclesiastical authorities and with society, with particular reference to the communities of Venice.;
- the history of Italian ecclesiastical and monastic institutions from a comparative perspective (10th-13th centuries); the organisational structures of monastic communities, particularly in northern Italy between the 11th and 14th centuries; Venetian monasticism, particularly female monasticism, from its origins to the 13th century and its relations with society, the aristocracy and political power;
- the history of the Northern Italian countryside between the early and late Middle Ages, with particular regard to the transformation of the rural landscape and the environment, the evolution of settlements and land ownership (9th-16th century).
She is the author of about sixty scientific works, alone and as co-author, including 8 monographs, essays, journal articles, conference proceedings, source editions. She has participated in national and international conferences in Europe and Argentina. She is scientific co-director of the series Studi di storia of Edizioni Ca' Foscari-Digital Publishing. She has been a member of local research units in national projects (PRIN 2002, PRIN 2004, PRIN 2010-11, PRIN 2017) and has been a holder of ESF projects (European Social Funds).
Since her arrival at Ca' Foscari she has held the following institutional roles:
- member of the Teaching Committee of the in European Social History from the Middle Ages to the contemporary age of Ca' Foscari University of Venice; member of the Teaching Committee and of the Board of the PhD in Historical, Geographical, Anthropological Studies of Veneto (Ca' Foscari University of Venice-University of Verona-University of Padua);
- vice-coordinator of the PhD in Historical, Geographical, Anthropological Studies of Veneto (Ca' Foscari University-University of Padua);
- member and then President of the Teaching Committee of the degree course in History (three-year and Master's degree) of Ca' Foscari University of Venice;
- President of the Joint Teaching Affairs Committee of the Department of Humanities at Ca' Foscari University of Venice;
- President of the Centro di Ricerche antropologiche geografiche e storiche (AGeS) in the Department of Humanities;
- member of the Centro di documentazione e ricerca sulla scuola e la didattica (CE.DO.DI.) in the Department of Humanities;
- member of the Scientific Committee of the Interdepartmental Centre for Historical Studies on Christianity, representative for the Department of Humanities at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.
