Stefania Sbarra (Thiene 1969) è Professore Associato di Letteratura tedesca all’Università Cà Foscari di Venezia.
Si è laureata a Venezia nel 1995 con Giuliano Baioni e ha conseguito il dottorato in Germanistica presso l’Università di Pisa nel 2001. Tra il 2000 e il 2008 è stata ricercatrice presso l’Università di Ferrara, e si è quindi trasferita a Ca' Foscari.
Nel 2014 ha conseguito l’abilitazione scientifica nazionale per il ruolo di professore associato in Letteratura tedesca e nell'A.A. 2015/2016 diventata prof.ssa associata.
È membro dell’AIG (Associazione Italiana Germanisti) e dell’Associazione Sigismondo Malatesta. Nel 2012 è stata membro della giuria del Premio Baioni.
Ricerca, didattica e pubblicazioni vertono attorno all’età di Goethe, Heinrich von Kleist, Nietzsche e il primo Novecento, la prosa del Realismo tedesco e la letteratura contemporanea. Ha tenuto conferenze e seminari in diverse università e istituzioni di ricerca (Pisa, Padova, Roma, Paris IV, Londra, Bayreuth, Berlin, Gottinga, Metz, Münster, Literaturarchiv Marbach).
Ha pubblicato un libro sull’influenza di Rousseau nell’età di Goethe (La statua di Glauco. Letture di Rousseau nell’età di Goethe, Carocci 2006) e un libro sulla narrativa del Realismo tedesco («Il confine, il confine. Dov'è?». Theodor Fontane, Friedrich Nietzsche e il realismo tedesco; Le Lettere 2019), collaborato all’edizione italiana delle Opere di Kleist con note di commento (Meridiani Mondadori 2011) e pubblicato articoli su alcuni importanti riviste tedesche di fascia A (Goethe-Jahrbuch, Heinrich Mann-Jahrbuch, Weimarer Beiträge, Cultura Tedesca, Ermeneutica Letteraria, Etudes Germaniques).
Nel luglio del 2020 ha ottenuto l'abilitazione per la I fascia.
Dal 2016 è codirettrice della rivista "Annali di Ca' foscari. Serie occidentale".
Nell'ottobre 2022 ha ricevuto una menzione d'onore nel PREMIO LabTrad 2022 (Laboratorio di traduzione italo-tedesco) bandito dal Dipartimento di Lingue, Letterature Culture Straniere dell’Università Roma Tre e il Goethe-Institut Rom, in collaborazione con il DAAD-Lektorenprogramm, per la curatela del voume: Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Il cortile nello specchio.
