By Giovanni Dosi, Professor Emeritus - Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa
In conversation with Pietro Dindo, Coordinator PhD in Economics, Department of Economics

Bio
Giovanni Dosi, an Italian economist and Professor Emeritus at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, is renowned for his pioneering research on innovation, technological change, and industrial economics. His most significant contribution is his theory of technological paradigms and trajectories, which offers a framework for understanding how technological progress shapes industries and influences the competitive success of firms and nations. This work has been a cornerstone in the development of evolutionary economics, a field that emphasizes the role of innovation, competition, and institutions in driving economic dynamics, contrasting with traditional neoclassical perspectives.

Dosi's research has had a global impact, shaping academic thought and policy-making, particularly in industrial and technological development. In addition to his extensive publications in top international journals, his work is frequently translated and widely referenced.
Among his many accolades, Dosi received the Wiley TIM Distinguished Scholar Award in 2016 from the Academy of Management and the Penrose Award from the European Academy of Management (EURAM) in 2022, recognizing his leadership in evolutionary economics.
