Research Seminar | Bauhaus of the Seas Sails

Campus San Giobbe - Aula Laguna Polo Rispoli

Within the framework of the Horizon Europe Bauhaus of the Seas Sails (BoS) project, two preparatory seminars will be held on 24 January 2025 at the Venice School of Management, dedicated to innovative methodologies to address the challenges of urban and coastal sustainability.

The first seminar, entitled From Human-centred to Life-centred: how design changes for contemporary challenges, will be held by Michele Andrea Tagliavini.

Abstract: In recent decades, Design Thinking and the human-centred approach have dominated design and innovation processes, placing human needs at the centre of creative solutions. However, with worsening environmental and socio-ecological crises, this framework is beginning to be challenged by recent alternative methodologies that prioritise the well-being of the ecosystem as a whole, summarised by the term life-centred design. Taking the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails project as a starting point, the application of these methodologies within regenerative processes on a European scale will be analysed.

The second seminar, entitled Stakeholder Involvement Processes within Urban Regeneration Projects: the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails Case, will be led by Marika Moscatelli.

Abstract: Stakeholder engagement plays a critical role in the success of urban regeneration projects, particularly when dealing with the complexities of social, cultural and environmental challenges. This paper explores stakeholder engagement processes within the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails (BoS) project, a New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative focused on the regeneration of seven European coastal areas through creativity, sustainability and inclusiveness.

Both events will be held from 14:30 to 17:00.
