Ibrahima Lo arrived in Italy from Senegal in 2017, after a long and painful journey across Libya and the Mediterranean. He studies and works in Venice and dreams to become a journalist: he wants to give a voice to the voiceless. In 2021 Maori Village published his book Pane e acqua (“Bread and Water”). His experience inspired director Matteo Garrone for the film Io capitano (“Me Captain”).
