Paolo Mereghetti (1949) graduated in Philosophy at the State University of Milan; he has been a film critic for "Corriere della Sera" since 2006 and the author of the most widely published film dictionary in Italy, popularly known as Il Mereghetti, since 1993. He collaborated with Italian and foreign magazines ("Ombre rosse", "Positif", "Reset", "Lo straniero", "Blow up"), with the Treccani Institute, and with the Storia del cinema mondiale published by Einaudi. He has published books and essays that have been also translated abroad. For RaiCultura he recorded 24 "cinema lessons", currently broadcast on RaiMovie. He held courses at the Universities of Pavia, Iulm, Bocconi and Luiss, and has been called upon as an expert by the National Film Directorate. He is one of the advisors of the festival Il Cinema Ritrovato organised by the Cineteca di Bologna. He won various prizes for film criticism, including  the Flaiano, De Sica, Lo straniero, and Amidei awards.
