Daniel Schreiber lives in Berlin and works as an art critic for several international publications. He wrote a biography of Susan Sontag (Geist und Glamour, 2007), also available in English, and two critically acclaimed essays, Nüchtern (“Sober”, 2014) and Zuhause (“Home”, 2017). The bestseller Allein (“Alone”, 2021) has been published in the United States, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Italy. His latest book is Die Zeit der Verluste (“The Time of Loss,” 2023), which will be published in Italian in 2025 by add press. It is set in Venice and was written during a residency at the German Center for Venetian Studies.
